The Issue

We, the undersigned residents and supporters, respectfully urge the Athens-Clarke County Mayor and Commission to terminate the county's contract with Flock Safety and remove all Flock Safety cameras from public roadways in Athens-Clarke County.

While public safety is important, it must be balanced with the constitutional rights to privacy, transparency, and government accountability. Many residents have concerns about the expansion of automated surveillance technology without meaningful public discussion or ongoing oversight.

We ask the Mayor and Commission to:

End the county's contract with Flock Safety.

Remove existing Flock Safety cameras from Athens-Clarke County.

Make all contracts, policies, audits, and data-retention practices related to Flock Safety publicly available.

Hold public hearings before approving any future expansion of automated surveillance technology.

Adopt stronger privacy protections for residents and visitors.

Government should earn the public's trust through openness, accountability, and respect for civil liberties. Decisions involving widespread surveillance should be made with meaningful public participation.

If you believe Athens-Clarke County should protect both public safety and individual rights, please sign this petition and share it with others.

Together, our voices can encourage transparent, accountable decision-making for our community.
