Stop the fence at pickmere lake

Stop the fence at pickmere lake
The Issue
The intended fence will restrict access to visitors and residents using pickmere lake. This will effect swimmers , paddle boarders, fishermen, dog walkers and families. Having access to nature is a basic human right . With over 90% of our water being private we are being pushed into less spaces causing problems to the areas that are open. We need more spaces opened up not closed down. Open water swimmung and being outdoors in nature has proven benefits for physical and mental health. The residents are pickmere have seen the problems of people over populating the lake on busy day with illegal parking and litter being left. The fence is not the solution ,it will lead to vandalism and the ruin of a nature beauty spot.the fence will be on either side of a public footpath with a gate controlled by the parish council , restricting access to the playing field area and the lake . The public path isn't wide enough to accommodate the footfall.
