Jackson, Wyoming has always been my sanctuary—a place where nature's beauty and small-town charm blend perfectly. However, this very essence is now under dire threat. Mogul Capital's proposed development plan is set to introduce an enormous building comprising a hotel, commercial spaces, and housing that isn't affordable for the majority of our community. If allowed to proceed, this development will erode the unique character that makes our town a cherished destination.

The increasing commercialization and overdevelopment in Jackson is alarming. Many townsfolk feel unheard as corporate giants reshape our community to fit their business goals, disregarding the values we cherish. This development promises not only to block our scenic views but also to hike up the cost of living and worsen the already daunting traffic issues.

Importantly, the housing units included in the plan are aimed at affluent buyers, completely ignoring the dire need for affordable housing solutions for local residents. Currently, 58% of Jackson’s workforce commutes from outside the town due to housing affordability issues (source: Teton County Housing Needs Assessment, 2022). Further neglecting this need will only enlarge the socio-economic divide within our town.

It is crucial to recognize that while development is sometimes necessary for progress, it should not come at the cost of the community's soul and environmental sustainability. Therefore, I respectfully urge the local planning authorities to reconsider Mogul Capital's proposal. Instead, they should encourage projects that align with the town's character and address the real needs of its residents.
