This morning, the City of Midland has taken action by starting to clear dust/dirt buildup from our streets and several homeowners’ yards. We want to thank the city crews for their prompt response, sincerely—it’s encouraging to see visible progress after weeks of concern.
However, this cleanup is only a temporary solution to a much larger problem.
If Carrasco Homes does not take immediate responsibility by installing dust control barriers and actively suppressing airborne soil through watering and site management, the dust will return with every gust of West Texas wind. Without permanent mitigation from the source, our families will continue to breathe in contaminated air, our homes will remain vulnerable to damage, and our children still won’t be able to play outside.
We deeply appreciate the city’s involvement, but we urge all stakeholders not to lose sight of their objectives. This problem won’t fix itself.
