STOP DUKE ENERGY'S WNC PROJECT
Sep 1, 2015
What do you think about underground lines IF IT IS PROVEN than a true need exists and that it's impacts can be minimized in this way?
Beyond the monstrous towers, what about the disastrous construction and maintenance methods this area will suffer no matter what method is used? What about the MASSIVE TRANSMISSION STATION IN CAMPOBELLO??????
THERE IS MORE TO THINK ABOUT THAN INDIVIDUAL AREAS AND VIEWSCAPES......
......"While the need to replace the coal plant in Asheville is pretty clear, the need for the transmission line is not. ... If, and only if, the transmission line is necessary for North Carolina, alternatives to the current plan should be seriously considered, including burying the line adjacent to Interstate-26, as part of the upcoming I-26 widening project, continuing alongside I-26 for the parts of the line corridor that extend beyond the length of the widening project."
The report also suggests "Using existing rights of way associated with current high voltage lines in the area, or other rights of way that have already been established. Since buried lines require a narrower right of way, expanding the right of way could be avoided." .....
