Stop the Drug Re-hab Facility in Mascot, Tn

The Issue

Stop the use of property at 1821 Tipple Drive , across from the Mascot Park and Playgrounds from being used as a Residential Addiction recovery/transition program.

Photo from Playground shows Blue building in background as the proposed site for Addiction Rehab Facility.

We, the community members of mascot Tennessee petition the Knox County Commission and the Metropolitan Planning Commission to STOP this program from coming into our small, historic, family oriented community. A non-profit,  Step Towards Home, recently purchased the property and with the help of another non-profit, the Lazarus Project, plan to open a residential Recovery Home providing long-term, structured substance abuse services. The location is a very poor choice for this program the property sits at the intersection of Tipple drive and number two Drive , a corner lot sitting directly besides our Public Park, Children's Playground, Post Office, Library, 2 Churches, and the School Bus Stop. No services are provided in this area of the county as well. This is a single family subdivision with two new subdivisions recently added, Riverpoint behind the mascot Park and River Meadows down mascot Road within easy walking distance to park.
