Why this petition matters

Started by mike Jurus

This Bill is not only discriminating against the LGBTQ+ community and the African American community, but it is a violation against our first amendment rights. Ohio’s version of the bill will prevent any discussion of sexual orientation or gender identity in kindergarten through 3rd grade. This is similar to the bill that was passed in Florida but there are differences. If we do not stop this in it’s tracks now it could escalate and turn into something worse, like the bill in Florida. Florida’s version of the bill forces teachers/ school faculty to tell the parents of a child if they find out the child’s sexuality is anything but straight. This is an infringement on the rights of LGBTQ+ people and can be very very damaging to the mental health and personal lives of the youth in the community. This bill shows how discriminatory the government and people of our country still are towards people of other sexual orientation and gender identity. Ohio’s version of the bill will also prevent schools from discussing about racist topics. We cannot ignore that these things have happened in our history and frankly our present as well. If you care about the youth in the LGBTQ+ community, the African American community, are an ally to the community, care about the youth's mental health, or countless of other reasons, I ask that you sign this petition so we can try to stop this bill from passing. Teachers, students, parents, family, friends, concerned community members, I ask the you sign this petition and share it so that we can make a difference for the entirety of the LGBTQ+ community & African American community and to start to put an end to the discrimination that the government so blatantly hangs over our heads. Thank you
