Hi All,
A sincere thank you to everyone who attended the Planning Commission meeting on Monday evening to voice our concerns about the gas station proposal at Hennepin Town Road and Pioneer Trail. We had a standing room only crowd, which illustrates how important this issue is for many of us in the immediate community. Thanks in large part to our visible and ongoing opposition to this project, the Planning Commission voted unanimously to deny the proposal.
This is great news, however, the proposal will still be up for vote at the City Council meeting on Tuesday, July 13 at 7 p.m. at the City Center (same location as this week's meeting). It is imperative that we once again participate in person -- please plan to join us. Based on a separate meeting last week with Mayor Case, myself, and other community leaders, it would be exceedingly rare for the council to approve a proposal already denied by the commission -- but not unheard of.
Please plan to attend the July 13 meeting to help reiterate our concerns and ensure this proposal does not pass. I fully expect the developers to try to refute many of the issues cited by the commission and our neighbors during this meeting. We need another packed house with our community in full force, and if you're willing, to make a public statement to reinforce our opposition.
Please contact me if you'd like to discuss further -- I'm happy to fill you in on the meeting and discussion. I'll send out a reminder closer to the meeting in early July. I know that time of year is tough due to vacations and travel but please prioritize this meeting.
We're very close but we're not there yet -- we need to keep up the pressure. Along those lines, please continue to share the online petition (www.StopTheStation.org
Thank you,
Jay Stank
