Stop the development in Fort Howard, Maryland
Stop the development in Fort Howard, Maryland
The Issue
I grew up in Fort Howard, Maryland. This community, steeped in history and natural beauty, has been a cradle for my memories and an integral part of my identity. Our children, just as we did, deserve to enjoy the lush green spaces, the serenity of Fort Howard Park, and the community spirit fostered by this treasured land. Sacrificing these cherished landscapes for development would be a loss this community cannot afford.
To all Baltimore County Leaders, I urge you to reconsider any development plans at Fort Howard. This land is not merely open space to be filled or developed—it's a vital community asset that supports countless residents in deeply meaningful and irreplaceable ways. From family gatherings to fishing, walking, and biking, Fort Howard plays a central role in the daily lives of so many. Including ESP dungeons - a yearly event.
Development at Fort Howard should not move forward because this community has already absorbed significant growth and strain in recent years. The surrounding area has been heavily impacted by large-scale operations like Amazon and Tradepoint Atlantic, bringing increased traffic, congestion, and pressure on local infrastructure. While the addition of new housing like The Cove has been welcomed as thoughtful, measured growth, there is a real limit to what this peninsula can sustain. Fort Howard still holds a rare small-town character that residents deeply value—a sense of quiet, community, and natural beauty that is quickly disappearing as overdevelopment creeps in. Expanding further risks permanently eroding that identity, overwhelming already stretched roads and resources, and turning a unique, historic area into just another overbuilt corridor.
I implore each one of you to take action by lending your voice to this cause. Let us safeguard our community's legacy and ensure that Fort Howard remains a sanctuary for all. Please, sign this petition to make a stand against the development and protect the heart of our community.
