Stop the destruction of our beloved field in the Vale of Glamorgan
The Issue
I have lived in this area since 1992, and from the moment I owned my first dog, I've been visiting the small field here daily. This field is not just any piece of land; it is a home to various fauna and flora, some of which are critically in decline. It serves as a cherished communal space for families, children, and dog walkers alike, forming part of the social and ecological fabric of our community. It pains me to witness the potential destruction of such a vital and well-loved area, all for the construction of approximately 51 houses.
While I recognize the need for housing, I cannot understand why our field is being targeted when there is ample land available in the Vale of Glamorgan that could be utilized instead. This decision to build here is not just an assault on our environment, but it stands to gravely affect our community infrastructure. The increase in population density will overburden our roads, local services, and amenities that already operate at capacity.
The negative impact laid upon our ecosystem will be irreparable. The field serves as a sanctuary for declining species, and its destruction would fast-track their journey towards extinction. A single person, (Maxine Levett) despite her admirable efforts, cannot fight alone against what seems like insurmountable odds posed by developers with deep pockets.
We must rally together to preserve this precious land, to protect the wildlife that calls this field home, and to prevent further strain on our infrastructure. A collaborative effort can show decision-makers that we value our environment more than short-term economic gains.
I urge you to imagine the lasting legacy of preserving such natural spaces for future generations. By saving our field, we hold onto our history, our community spirit, and our responsibility towards nature.
Please join me in this fight. Sign this petition to halt the proposed development and advocate for a more thoughtful approach to urban planning in the Vale of Glamorgan.
