Stop the destruction of Mount Pleasant, SC Wetlands

Stop the destruction of Mount Pleasant, SC Wetlands
The Issue
Tell US Army Corp of Engineers to not permit the filling of Mount Pleasant, SC WETLANDS! Public comment is NOW!
Charleston District, Corps of Engineers has applied for a permit from the US Army Corp of Engineers to discharge 25,500 CUBIC YARDS OF fill material associated with roadway improvements and new construction of Laurel Hill Parkway (located between Hwy 17 and Wando) into 6.27 acres of freshwater wetlands, 3.61 acres of tidal wetlands, and 0.10 acres of open waters. Another 1.09 acre would be mechanically cleared, and 0.96 acre would be impacted by bridge construction. This is a total of 12.03 acres of wetland destruction. They have proposed they will buy their way out of the impact by purchasing wetland mitigation credits....We only have 30 days to get this done! Please sign this petition to tell the US Army Corp of Engineers that we will not stand for our local wetlands to be destroyed forever!
