Stop the Destruction of $10,000,000 of Contraceptives by the Trump Administration

The Issue

The Trump Administration has recently decided to have 10 million dollars worth of ready made contraceptives be shipped from Belgium to France to be incinerated! Despite offers from United Nations and Family Planning Organizations, the Trump Administration will be or already have paid $160,000 for these contraceptives to be destroyed.

As a woman, the right to choose what happens to our bodies is fundamental. The destruction of already manufactured contraceptives represents not only a waste of resources, healthcare products, and time but also an affront to our autonomy and choices. These contraceptives should not be incinerated to appease pro-life supporters and those within the Trump Administration that want to remove a woman’s right to choose what happens with her body.

It's time to harness the potential of these vital resources instead of allowing them to be incinerated in France. The United States has the option to channel $10,000,000 worth of contraceptives to those who are in dire need of them by selling/donating to United Nations or Family Planning Organizations. By doing this, instead of spending $160,000 tax payer dollars to destroy them, we can ensure these life-changing products reach poorer nations struggling with limited access to contraception due to socioeconomic and cultural barriers.

Data from the Guttmacher Institute highlights that approximately 214 million women in developing regions who want to avoid pregnancy are not using modern contraceptive methods. This unmet need points to significant gaps that can be filled by reallocating these resources. Moreover, the World Health Organization has consistently advocated for improving access to family planning services as a means of enhancing global health outcomes.

By donating these contraceptives, we can prevent unintended or dangerous pregnancies, reduce the rate of unsafe abortions, and empower women to make informed choices about their reproductive health.

Join this crucial initiative to require the United States government to sell or donate these contraceptives rather than destroy them. Ensure these resources are used to promote autonomy, health, and well-being globally, rather than being extinguished without purpose. Demand action now and help us create a world where everyone has the right to decide their own reproductive future.

Sign the petition to stop the waste and make a difference in reproductive health worldwide.
