Dear Supporters

It has been a traumatic and nerve wracking week for Twane and his family.

In the space of 12 hours Twane went from being booked on the charter flight to Jamaica to getting an injunction which removed him from the flight to everyone's relief to Twane being awoken by six armed guards in riot gear in the early hours, cuffed to an escort and taken to the airport whilst our whole team had to work through the night to get a second injunction. Twane was the last person to be boarded on to the flight and was all strapped in to stop him moving, handcuffed to two security guards on either side before the successful outcome of the second injunction came through and Twane was taken off the flight.

For Twane as I am sure you can imagine this was a frightening, nerve wracking and traumatising experience. It is bad enough to go through that if you are someone that knows it is about to happen but Twane went to sleep safe in the knowledge he was not going to be taken. He did very well to stay calm.  His partner Kirsty and I were speaking to him and his escort on the phone when we got cut off so it was really distressing for the family not to be able to stay in contact throughout this traumatic ordeal. Despite all of this Twane bravely stayed calm throughout.

What Twane was put through was totally unnecessary and unacceptable. We are working on getting him bail so he can be at home with his family. I  have spoken with the Jamaican High Commissioner to raise concerns about what Twane was put through.

His family visited him yesterday and described it being like a reunion after seperation.

His family asked me to let you know they are a praying family and they prayed throughout that night and are thankful that Twane was not taken from them. Twane  wanted to convey his thanks to everyone who worked through the night to save him from deportation - the campaign and legal team plus those working behind the scenes, and he asked me to do a shout out to  his barrister Shivani from Justitia Chambers who is working pro-bono. Of course he thanks all of you.

We have almost 100,000 signatures now. We have had loads of national and international news interest including from the New York Times and Jamaican  TV news networks.

Please keep sharing and raising concerns with your MPs including these most recent unbelievable events.

Many thanks to you.
