The Issue

Rosalind Wanyeki (popularly known as Rev. Hadassah) is currently facing deportation. She is a valued member of the Kenyan and wider African community in Canada — a leader, a mentor, and a mother. Since fleeing religious persecution that threatened her life and the lives of her young children, Rosalind has become a foundational pillar for many Kenyan and African immigrants. She has offered pastoral, emotional, and moral support to families struggling with the challenges of settling in Canada. Ironically, Rosalind now finds herself in desperate need of the very support she has given so freely to others.

Rosalind and her two young children — daughter Joylene Mundia (10) and son Pearl Mundia (6) — are scheduled for deportation in early July 2025. This decision puts all three of them at severe risk.

We are pleading with the Canadian government to consider the future and well-being of these two children. Joylene and Pearl came to Canada at very young ages. Canada is the only home they know. They have grown up in Canadian schools, formed friendships here, and adopted the Canadian way of life. They have no connection to Kenya — culturally, socially, or emotionally — and removing them from Canada would not only traumatize them but expose them to significant danger and instability.

Deportation would not only separate them from the only environment they know but would also place them in a country that is foreign to them and unsafe for their mother. According to Human Rights Watch, individuals deported under similar circumstances have faced violence, human rights violations, and even death. Rosalind falls within that risk category.

Throughout her time in Canada, Rosalind has been an unwavering servant to the community. She has supported sick families, led prayers, mentored youth, and contributed to organizations such as Sauti Yetu, Kenya Canadian Association, Prayer Reign International Church, and the broader East African community in Canada. Her absence would leave a painful gap in a community that deeply relies on her presence.

We urge Canadian authorities to act with compassion and justice. The right to live in safety is a basic human right — one that Rosalind and her children deserve. Deporting this family is not only cruel but would be a tragic failure of the humanitarian values Canada stands for.

Let us rally for justice, for compassion, and most of all, for the protection of Joylene and Pearl — two innocent children whose lives and futures hang in the balance.

Please sign this petition and raise your voice for Rosalind Wanyeki and her children's right to remain in Canada — their true home.
