Stop the Demolition, Save Scott House

The Issue

SAVE OUR HOMES. STOP THE DEMOLITION.

Scott House is a three-storey building made up of 19 flats which house several people, including families with young children. The current longest-standing tenants have made this their home for the last 16 years.

Developers ("Tribe Grove Street ltd" aka "YourTribe")  want to demolish our homes, evict us all, and replace us with a 31-storey building of 502 rooms for students-only. To make matters worse, the developers have only pledged to make 35% of these rooms affordable. The part of Deptford we live in has over 1,259 rooms for students already being built.

In Lewisham there are over 2,740 people in temporary accommodation who are waiting for secure housing. Instead of doing something about this, the developers want to build more unnecessary flats for hypothetical students who are already being catered for. They're putting profit over people.

We were barely consulted on this application and the letter we received about the fact that it had been filed said nothing of their plans to demolish our homes and evict us. We had to go online to the Council's difficult to navigate and unclear planning website to learn about Tribe's proposal to demolish our homes.

We're calling on the Planning Committee to reject the proposal and prevent the historic Scott House from being replaced by more student accommodation that is unnecessary in our area.

Please sign and share the petition to help save our homes.
