Stop the demolition of Scout Hall and surrounding nature and wildlife
The Issue
1st Erith Scout Hall stands as a beacon of community spirit and dedication with over 100 young people attending each week. However, recent plans have surfaced that threaten the beloved Scout Hall and the surrounding natural habitat, which is home to numerous species of wildlife. This proposal, aimed at new developmental projects, risks destroying years of conservation efforts and robbing the community of a rare piece of greenery.
Scout Hall has been a part of our community's fabric for over 50 years, serving as a place of learning, gathering, and recreation. It's not just a building; it's a symbol of our community's heritage and values. It's where friendships have been forged, skills have been nurtured, and memories have been made. Yet, the potential demolition of such a crucial structure would erase an important chapter from our community's story.
The surrounding land is not just a backdrop to Scout Hall; it's a thriving ecosystem that supports a variety of flora and fauna. The woodlands and meadows provide essential habitats for local wildlife, including several protected species such as bats, owls, hedgehogs and squirrels. The removal of these natural spaces could lead to ecological imbalance and the loss of biodiversity, affecting the natural harmony we've worked hard to maintain.
We understand the need for progress and development; however, it should not come at the cost of our heritage and environment. There are potential alternatives to this plan that can achieve development goals without the need for demolition.
We urge local authorities and developers to reconsider the current plans and engage with community stakeholders to find sustainable alternatives.
Sign this petition to voice your support for preserving our community's history and natural beauty. Let's come together to protect the Scout Hall and its priceless surroundings for future generations to enjoy.
