STOP the Demolition of Inosencio St. Neighborhood, Barangay 93 Zone 8, Tondo Manila

The Issue

My sibling, neighbors, and I have called the neighborhood of Inosencio St. Barangay 93 Zone 8, Tondo Manila, home since we were kids. The communities labor of love has turned this place from houses into a vibrant, caring community. Unthinkably, My sibling, and my neighbors now face the threat of forced displacement as our neighborhood is scheduled to be demolished. This won't just uproot bricks and concrete - it will tear apart the tightly-knit fabric of our community, displacing families who have lived here for countless generations.

This is no minor incident. Relocation on this scale can lead to a cascade of socio-economic problems. Research has shown that those displaced by such actions often suffer from lower income potential, increased stress, dislocation from social support systems, and diminished health outcomes. (Source: "The High Cost of Forced Displacement", Urban Displacement Project, 2019).

The impending destruction of the neighborhood we call home is not just a strike against the residents of Inosencio Basketball Court and the Inner compounds, but an affront to the values of community, cultural lineage, and the right to a secure place to call home. This story is intensely personal, yet we stand as a symbol against the disregard for our communities.

We implore everyone who values community, history, and the rights of my people to show your support by signing the petition. Stand with us to protect their homes in Inosencio St. Barangay 93 Zone 8, Tondo Manila. Your signature can make a real difference.
