No displacement, stop the demolition!

No gentrification — housing before profit!

Sign this petition to demand the new owners of Campus Edge Apartments, Michael Putman and Randy Herron, cancel their plans to demolish the property and force out all the tenants at the end of July! We demand that the safety and well-being of the tenants comes before the profit of landlords!

 1 No mass displacement! Tenants have paid rent and have signed leases till 2026 — the right to housing must be honored!

 2 Stop the demolition! After buying the property, Michael Putman, has informed several tenants of his plans to give them a one-month notice to vacate before he tears the place down — we cannot allow him to enrich himself by treating the lives of tenants like something to be bought and flipped for profit. 

 3 Repair homes responsibly! Tenants who have put in requests for repairs must be immediately addressed — if a landlord collects rent they must all be required to adequately maintain their properties for the good of the tenants and the entire community of Marietta. Urgent safety hazards like broken stairs must be fixed immediately, and broken amenities like the laundry center must be restored. Tenants must be reimbursed for fees paid for promised amenities that were never provided.

 4 Renovate units for existing tenants! If renovations are necessary they must be made available to the current tenants, without forced displacement. No more flipping units just to hike up rent for the next person while denying safe and livable housing. The owners must renovate the empty units first, then, for those who wish to move, relocate current tenants into the upgraded homes with all moving costs covered.

 5 Transparency & guarantees! Any serious plans for the property which will affect the well being of the tenants must be clearly communicated in a timely manner to the Campus Edge Tenants Association for approval — a genuine community values the input of all its members, not just the ones with wealth and power. 

This petition demands justice for all tenants at the Campus Edge Apartments, all tenants in Marietta, in metro Atlanta, in Georgia and beyond. Each time a landlord is allowed to mass evict our neighbors, they help perpetuate the nationwide housing crisis that robs millions of working people of secure housing for the sake of profit. Gentrification, mass displacement and homelessness is a disease hollowing out the soul of our community. All tenants and working people must take action to end it now!
