A big thanks to the 150-200 people who showed up for the rally last July 13th 2023 in front of the Lake Forest Park City Hall! Thanks, also, to the many, many, people who signed up and spoke at the Council Meeting. Sound Transit CEO, Julie Timm, stayed for citizen comments that went well into the evening with the wrap up after 9 PM!  Many citizens also requested parts of the SEPA to be reopended for the Sound and Noise portions as well as the Environmental portions of the SEPA.

Many thanks to our LFP City Council members as well - they challenged the bus rapid transit design in many ways and asked for better accountability and community engagement.

One resident commented that the 391 trees scheduled to be removed technically constitute a forest, and mentioned the irony of removing a forest in Lake Forest Park. Another resident, noting that it was NOT too late to make a difference, referenced the R.H. Thompson Expressway. That highway project that killed by voters in the 1970's after construction had begun. It would have taken hundreds of homes and sliced through the Arboretum. All that remained of the project were the famous "ramps to nowhere". Lets make change here as well!

Many people confuse our issue as STOPPING transit and that is not our goal. We continue to be supportive of transit and are only asking for a similar and more time savings method that is being used from I-5 along NE 145th to Lake City Way. According to Sound Transit's own documentation, the method here (Queue Jumps with Priority Signaling and Traffic circles) are responsible for the greatest recorded time savings of Bus traffic- This method would reduce property takes and reduce wall construction and the taking of our trees...

Many people at the Rally outside before the Council Meeting started have asked why this is not being considered, and many called out at the rally to 'FOLLOW THE MONEY' and that Sound Transit should be financially audited!

We definitely got Ms. Timm's attention and she indicated she will be back within a month to continue listening to us. Now is the time to continue the dialog and to keep advocating for a Lighter Touch through Lake Forest Park!

Ask the City of LFP to Post the Community Comment of the July 13 City Council Meeting where people shared their thoughts to Julie Timm! This is not yet posted on the website, though other work sessions are!
