As part a member of CORE (Citizens Organized to Rethink Expanding Highway 522 /Bothell Way in Lake Forest Park - see website at LFPCore.org) I wanted to post an update and how you can help push this message to people in the community.

Lake Forest Park is a very small community, known for it's trees and shore along Lake Washington. Many residents away from SR 522 are not aware of what is going on, as we found out by sending out a mailer to 5,000 households and this was VERY EFFECTIVE, but we need to DO IT AGAIN!

I am going to ask each of you to donate funds as small as $1 or $2 to the link below and this will go DIRECTLY to snail-mail post cards. Many seniors in our community are affected but do not have the online presence to follow social media and mailers are the best way to reach them. Core is now a 401(c)(3) registered charitable organization and we need your help! We need the WHOLE community to stand arm in arm on this issue!

Here is a link you can use to go to our donation page and donate money using your PayPal account or a credit card.

Why is your donation so important?

  • Sound Transit 60% plans call for the construction of a dedicated bus lane running northbound on Bothell Way from 145th to the Town Center.  Only one way and is the MOST expensive option proposed!
  • We want our tax payer dollars to be spent WISELY and not as if the BANK IS OPEN SEASON!
  • Over 110 homeowners will have to give up some or all of their property!
  • It will call for the removal of almost 500 trees large canopy trees!
  • They will construct a huge 8-to-16-foot CONCRETE retaining wall on the west side of Bothell Way funning from 155th St to Town Center, over 4000 feet!
  • It will be a GRAFITTI magnet that the City can NOT afford to remediate!

These plans deeply harm LFP's environment, tree canopy, economy and provide minimal value to the bus transit rider.  We support transit and advocate for a lighter touch, which is why we advocate for Queue Jump Lanes as they are already doing on a portion of this exact project!

Recent information obtained from Sound Transit indicates that out of three options considered, they chose the MOST EXPENSIVE and MOST DAMAGING to our City! 'Why' is not an answer we can provide, but what we CAN do is to CONTINUE our FIGHT to have more voices speak out against this current plan!

We can't achieve our goal without your financial support.  So, I'm asking you to donate CORE's cause, like I have.  You may donate any amount that you are comfortable with and any expenditures are subject to reporting and can be made available.  Note that your donation is not tax deductible.

Thank you again for listening to our cause! You make the world a better place!
