Stop the Deforestation and Preserve the South Jalan Tea Garden in Dibrugarh

The Issue

The South Jalan Tea Garden in Dibrugarh, a symbol of our local heritage and beauty, is being destroyed as part of new development plans. For many of us who have grown up in this tea city of India, the garden holds a treasured place in our hearts. As the responsible authority embarks on these development plans, the charm of having such a landmark in the heart of our city fades away, along with the essential green cover it provides.

Deforestation is not only a personal concern for us locals, but it also has wider implications. It jeopardizes biodiversity, disrupts local ecosystems, and contributes to climate change. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, around 10 million hectares of forest are lost each year due to deforestation globally.

We believe that development should never come at the cost of environmental stability and the irreplaceable natural heritage sites like the South Jalan Tea Garden. Therefore, we call upon the government to reconsider these developmental plans. We believe that sustainable development is achievable and does not require the complete destruction of our cherished garden.

We urge everyone to join this cause and make our voices heard. Stand with us to save our beautiful tea garden, for the sake of our memories, our city, and our ecosystem. Please sign this petition and help us to protect the South Jalan Tea Garden.
