I'm writing to raise awareness and gather support against the proposed establishment of a Data Center Campus at 4280 & 4358 Loveless Place, and 2281 Pineview Trail in Ellenwood, Georgia. As someone who lives less than 10 minutes away from the proposed site, I am acutely aware of the ramifications such a development poses to our community.

Data centers, while necessary for our modern world, are notorious for their environmental impact. They produce significant noise pollution, which can disrupt the peaceful lives of local residents and disturb the quiet charm of our neighborhoods. Additionally, these centers often contribute to air and water pollution, risking the health and well-being of the residents of Ellenwood.

The proposed Data Center Campus falls within District 3 of Dekalb County, where our Commissioner Nicole Massiah has the responsibility to safeguard our community’s interests. The Special Land Use Permit (2025-0970) for this project is a critical issue that requires thorough consideration, given its potentially detrimental effects on our environment and public health.

Numerous studies have shown that data centers can have a substantial carbon footprint, primarily due to their high energy consumption. This not only contributes to local pollution but also global climate change. Furthermore, the cooling systems used in these facilities can consume significant water resources and cause thermal pollution, impacting local wildlife and ecosystems thus making the water undrinkable.

I urge the Dekalb County Commissioners to vote against this Special Land Use Permit and consider alternative locations that are less impactful on residential areas. By doing so, they would be demonstrating a commitment to sustainable development and the health and safety of their constituents.

Ellenwood deserves better than to be dominated by the overbearing noise and pollution of a large data center. We must think of future generations and the environment they will inherit.

I am asking all residents of District 3 to join me in urging Commissioner Nicole Massiah and the entire Dekalb County Commission to protect our community by signing this petition. Together, we can make a difference and ensure Ellenwood remains a safe and pleasant place to live.

Please share this with everyone you know who lives in District 3.  Time is of the essence as the Commissioner’s will be voting on Dec 16th.

Thank you!
