Stagecoach's cuts to our bus service to Littleport to only 3 buses per day threatens to disrupt the lives and livelihoods of many residents.

With train prices continually rising (including by 4.9% on 3rd March) and their reliability decreasing due to underinvestment, coupled with rising car insurance / driving costs and a current lack of safe and paved cycle / pedestrian routes to Ely, this bus service is a lifeline for many people in our community. 

It enables us to commute to work, visit hospitals, shop outside Littleport, and for people to visit us and our businesses. The local area is seeing significant population growth on the new estates, and more cars on the road means more congestion and increased pollution levels. This makes maintaining an efficient and affordable bus system even more crucial.

If Stagecoach can't maintain our services, then the Mayor, Nik Johnson, has asked residents for views on services that the Combined Authority could step in to provide to complement those offered by Stagecoach. Enhancing Littleport's bus services should be one of them, including an express service to speed up travel time for commuters and the restoration of full stop services during the day. Longer term, a franchise run in the public's interests could enable us to have more of a say in the design of our services.
