On a daily basis the residents of the Upper Highway witness drug addicts shooting up in the CBD. This is in full view of the public ! No effort by the authorities is made to remove these addicts/criminals. The plight of Hillcrest is looking dismal if this criminal behaviour is allowed to continue. Hillcrest is becoming a no go zone as crime increases. The beggars are continually being supported by members of the public which encourages them to remain in the area, ultimately resulting in a rise in crime and the demand for drugs. These addicts/beggars have over the last few months crept closer and closer into the CBD Centre.

With this ever escalating problem of crime and drug abuse happening in Hillcrest it is only a matter of time before the area becomes a high risk area for crime. It is only a matter of time before Watercrest Mall falls prey to the exact same issue.

We as residents of the Upper Highway demand that SAPS gets out on the streets of Hillcrest and enforces the laws. Our residents no longer feel safe in the CBD. We demand action. We want to see visible policing in the CBD. As residents and business owners of The Upper Highway we are tired of no accountability being taken by SAPS.

We encourage residents and business owners to sign this petition, it will then be delivered to the Station Commander at Hillcrest SAPS.
