The Issue
As a resident of Owasso, the prospect of a data center being built on 76th Street has become a source of great concern for me and my community. This development not only threatens to compromise our water pressure and supply, but it also poses the risk of introducing loud noise pollution and potentially poisoning our precious water supply.
Owasso has always been a place where families thrive, relishing the tranquility and safety that our community offers. Introducing a data center in this area will disrupt the peaceful environment we cherish. Data centers are known for their enormous water consumption, which could severely affect our water reserves. Given the current global emphasis on preserving resources, it seems inconsistent to gamble with our valuable water supply.
Moreover, data centers are notorious for the noise they produce due to constant equipment cooling systems. This will inevitably lead to an increase in noise pollution, turning our quiet neighborhood into an incessant hum of industrial activity. Our residents deserve to live in a community free from such disturbances.
There are also environmental concerns, as data centers can lead to contamination of local water supplies due to potential spills and waste discharge. This is a risk we cannot afford to take with our health and wellbeing on the line.
Apart from the environmental impact, the construction of such a facility would likely decrease property values in the area. Prospective homeowners may be deterred by the prospect of living near a noisy, resource-intensive industrial site.
We urge local authorities to reconsider and halt the construction of the data center on 76th Street. We propose that alternative locations, less intrusive to the community and its resources, be evaluated before proceeding with this project.
By signing this petition, you’re helping us protect our community’s resources, health, and way of life. Stand with us in opposing this development and demand a sustainable solution for Owasso!
