Stop the construction of the data center at Aten Rd. and Clark Rd.

Stop the construction of the data center at Aten Rd. and Clark Rd.
The Issue
As a resident of the Imperial County, I am deeply concerned about the proposed construction of a large data center and battery energy storage system facility at the SouthEast corner of Clark and Aten Rd. This development is alarming due to its proximity to homes, schools, and a fuel facility. The planned location is alarmingly close to residential areas, directly impacting the families who live there, including mine. Moreover, it is within 850 feet of the Kinder Morgan Silos fuel facility and just half a mile away from local schools. These distances pose significant safety and environmental hazards to our community. One of the primary concerns is the heightened risk of fire hazards. Data centers are known for their extensive energy use and heat production, which when combined with a nearby fuel facility, could have catastrophic consequences. Living in such close quarters to these potential fire hazards jeopardizes our safety and peace of mind. Air pollution is another concern that cannot be overlooked. Data centers require immense amounts of electricity, and this often results in increased emissions of pollutants. These emissions can contribute to respiratory issues and other health problems for residents, particularly affecting children and the elderly. With schools so near, the air quality is a vital consideration for our community's wellbeing. Furthermore, the noise pollution resulting from the construction and operation of this facility would disrupt the tranquility of our residential zone. Constant noise can affect mental health and reduce quality of life. Light pollution is also a concern, as the illumination required for security and operational functionality of such a facility can adversely affect local wildlife and disturb our night sky. We need to protect our community from these proven issues and seek alternatives that consider the well-being of residents. The development should be relocated to an area that does not infringe upon residential zones or the learning environment of our children. Please join me in opposing this construction project. Together, we can urge our city planners and local government officials to reconsider the location of this facility to ensure the safety, health, and quality of life of all community members. Sign this petition to help stop the construction of the data center at its proposed location.
