Stop the Construction of Seawall in Brgy Lalawigan, Borongan City, Eastern Samar

The Issue

As someone who grew up in Brgy Lalawigan, Borongan City, Eastern Samar and an advocate for our environment and local livelihoods, I am deeply concerned about the ongoing construction of a seawall along our shorelines. This project has already caused extensive damage to our precious coral reefs due to the actions of unidentified contractors. The repercussions are not only environmental but also economic as it severely impacts the livelihoods of our local fishermen who depend on these waters for their sustenance.

This activity is in clear violation of REPUBLIC ACT NO. 10654 - The Philippine Fisheries Code of 1998, specifically Section 96 which states that it is unlawful for any corporation or entity to commit such acts that harm marine life and thereby disrupt human activities dependent on them.

Our plea is simple yet urgent - we demand an immediate halt to this construction project and call upon relevant authorities to investigate this matter thoroughly. We cannot stand by while our natural resources are destroyed and livelihoods threatened. It's time we uphold the law and protect what's rightfully ours.

Please sign this petition today; let us join hands in preserving our environment while safeguarding the future of our fishermen community.
