Stop the construction of rental units on 27 Kimball Rd in Amesbury

Stop the construction of rental units on 27 Kimball Rd in Amesbury
The Issue
Growing up on 27 Kimball Road in Amesbury, Massachusetts has been an integral part of my life. My dad and his neighbors have lived there for decades; this close-knit community is where I was born and raised, where their children have taken their first steps. The memories and the bonds formed here are irreplaceable.
But now, this cherished area is under threat. A proposal to build 95 rental units on 27 Kimball Rd is on the table, a plan that could drastically alter the character of our neighborhood forever. We already see other condo developments springing up around us, changing the landscape we know and love.
This is not just an issue of new construction. It represents a looming change that could lead to increased traffic congestion, strain on local resources, and the erosion of community ties that have taken years to build. We’ve seen it happen in other parts of town, where rapid development led to overcrowded streets and stretched public services.
What's more, the environmental impact of such a large development cannot be overlooked. The proposed site is home to mature trees and green spaces that contribute to the local ecosystem. Paving over this area would not only devastate local wildlife but also negatively affect air quality and lead to increased water runoff, causing potential floods of the streets. Last, but not least don’t forget the fact that our wastewater plant and water treatment plant need to be updated.
We are not opposed to growth or development, but it needs to be thoughtful, sustainable, and respectful of the existing community. Our neighborhood is not just a place; it’s our heritage and our home. By saying 'no' to this development on 27 Kimball Rd, we are standing up for the community we cherish.
Join us in preserving the spirit and essence of our neighborhood. Support us by signing this petition to stop the construction of 95 rental units on 27 Kimball Rd. Let’s make our voices heard and protect the future of Amesbury for generations to come. Please sign the petition and help us safeguard our beloved community.
