The Issue

I live on a bustling street that already grapples with constant noise and traffic, and now we are facing a new problem: the proposed construction of a Morrison's Daily that will serve alcohol right next to our primary school. This isn't just about a new shop opening; it's about the community's safety and well-being, especially the safety of our children, which hangs in the balance.

The road we live on is already problematic, with parking issues causing endless frustration for the residents. In the warmer weather, we keep our windows open, and the current level of traffic is unbearable. The influx of more vehicles, delivery trucks, and customers attracted by alcohol sales will only exacerbate the situation.

The presence of a shop serving alcohol so close to an educational environment is alarming. Our children's daily commute to school should not involve walking past a store selling alcohol. Moreover, we already have a local shop at the corner that fulfills our community's needs. Introducing a competitor that offers alcohol is certain to adversely impact this business, potentially leading to its closure and harming the local economy.

There are compelling statistics that show an increase in noise and safety risks associated with having businesses that serve alcohol near schools. Roads nearby become hotspots of traffic congestion, leading to slower response times for emergency vehicles and increased risks for pedestrians, especially during school hours.

Our primary focus should remain on ensuring a safe, quiet, and supportive environment for our children to learn and grow. Therefore, we urgently need to urge the local authorities to reconsider the location of this proposed store.

By signing this petition, you are voicing your concern for our community and advocating for a better, safer environment for our children and neighbors. Please stand with us and support the initiative to relocate the planned Morrison's Daily to a more suitable and safe area.
