Stop the Construction of Kennel Facility at 435 Hollow Road, Shamokin Township

The Issue

We are deeply concerned and opposed to the construction of a kennel facility at 435 Hollow Road in Shamokin Township, owned by Anne Gibbs/K-9 Hero Haven. This concern is personal as Ms. Gibbs has a documented history of neglect, facing 41 charges last year alone. Despite pleading guilty to one count and being entered into the ARD program, she continues to deny any wrongdoing and has faced multiple seizures of dogs due to neglect. Not to mention Ms. Gibbs is not legally authorized to own or operate a kennel due to her court-ordered penalty.

The fines levied against her, exceeding $44,000, are a testament to the severity of this situation. These actions display a flagrant disregard for animal welfare and compliance with legal obligations. It's alarming that despite recent legal actions and fines for neglecting retired working dogs, Ms. Gibbs persists in her plans.

We believe that allowing another kennel facility under her control would only lead to more instances of animal abuse and neglect. The welfare of these animals should be our utmost priority; they deserve better than what they have been subjected to.

Sadly, recent reports and eyewitness accounts have shed light on the criminal neglect suffered by these retired heroes at K9 Hero Haven. These brave canines have spent years selflessly serving our communities as police dogs, search and rescue companions, or military service members. They risked their lives to protect ours without hesitation or complaint.

Reports indicate that many of these retired working dogs are living in deplorable conditions. They suffer from inadequate shelter, lack of medical attention, malnutrition, unsanitary living spaces, and limited social interaction – all essential elements for a healthy life after years of dedicated service.

These neglected heroes deserve better! We cannot turn a blind eye to this injustice any longer. It is time for us to come together as compassionate individuals who value the sacrifices made by these remarkable animals

We urge you not just as residents but as advocates for animal rights - let's stand together against this proposed construction project that threatens the well-being of innocent animals in Shamokin Township.

Please sign this petition today; let us use our collective voices for those who cannot speak for themselves!
