The Issue

For many years, Apopka has been a peaceful and close-knit community where families thrive in a safe and neighborly environment. As a lifelong resident, I have treasured the tranquility and safety of our streets. This, however, is now under threat due to the proposed construction of a mosque in the heart of our cherished neighborhood.

The introduction of a mosque brings not only the promise of increased noise levels but also significant traffic concerns. Our streets, designed for a small-town traffic flow, are ill-equipped to handle the surge that such a construction would bring. The congestion could lead to more accidents and make it unsafe for our children playing outside and residents taking leisurely walks.

Moreover, there is a profound concern among community members regarding the changes that might alter the social fabric of our beloved neighborhood. The fear of violent incidents associated with such institutions is unsettling. There have been instances in other areas where the establishment of similar religious buildings has led to neighborhood conflicts and legal issues.

Another concern that needs addressing is the potential imposition of foreign practices such as sharia law, which many residents, including myself, feel is incompatible with our community's values. This raises questions about future community dynamics and peace.

I urge the local planning authorities to reconsider this project and prioritize the safety and integrity of Apopka's social environment. We, as a community, must come together and embrace a future that maintains our values and continues to nurture the peaceful coexistence we have always had.

Please sign this petition if you share these concerns and believe in preserving Apopka's safe, quiet, and friendly community.
