The Issue

We are a family deeply concerned for the peace and safety of our young son and our neighborhood. Our home is located a mere block away from a proposed gas station site. Building a gas station here is not only unnecessary but also introduces potential risks and unwanted traffic.

Within 1-2 miles of our residence, there are already a handful of gas stations adequately serving the community. Additional stations in close residential proximity disturb the tranquility of the neighborhoods in which young children are nurtured and grow.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), living close to a gas station can expose residents to harmful pollutants like benzene and toluene, increasing health risks. Moreover, a report by University of East Anglia found that residential exposure to light pollution and noise from gas stations can negatively affect people's sleep and overall health, especially impacting children’s development.

We urge city planners and officials to rethink the location of this proposed station and consider the impact on the families residing in this area. We should prioritize the health, safety, and tranquility of our residential neighborhoods over commercial development. Please, sign this petition to uphold the quality of life in our community.
