The Issue

Our community in Rancho Cordova is facing a concerning development: the proposal to construct a Quack Quack Car Wash at the intersection of Bear Hollow Drive and Zinfandel Drive, right next to Sprouts. This intersection is already notoriously congested, often serving as a hotspot for reckless driving. Imagine adding the traffic of a busy car wash to the already crowded area; it only spells trouble for our residents, pedestrians, and current business owners.

Importantly, there are already two Quack Quack Car Washes located on Sunrise Drive, less than a 10-minute drive away. This redundancy not only risks escalating traffic congestion but also threatens the vitality of our cherished local businesses. We, as a community, yearn to support and nurture our local economy and unique identity, rather than succumb to franchise encroachment which dims the vibrancy of locally-owned establishments.

This space next to Sprouts holds significant potential for alternative commercial uses that could genuinely benefit and enrich our community, addressing existing needs rather than adding to traffic woes. A locally-owned business such as a cafe or diner could not only ease congestion issues but could be pillars for strengthening community ties and improving our quality of life - especially when these are already so lacking in Rancho Cordova.

Statistics tell the same story: congested intersections significantly increase the risk of accidents. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, urban areas, particularly those with high traffic volumes and multiple intersections, witness notably higher accident rates. Allowing another high-traffic business in this area is only primed to exacerbate these risk factors.

We urge the Rancho Cordova City Council to reconsider this development plan and invest in opportunities that truly enhance our community rather than diminish it. Let’s unite, make our voices heard, and push for smart development that aligns with our community’s needs and values.

Please sign this petition to stop the construction of the Quack Quack Car Wash and advocate for a project that truly benefits our Rancho Cordova community.
