I am so encouraged by a strong showing of support for this petition to stop adversity scoring of SAT takers. Please spread it around and get as many signatures as we can!
Attached is a recent article by a U. Penn student. It’s not just Asian-American students who will be harmed by adversity scoring. Any student who works hard, plays by the rules, and attend an academically rigorous high school will be harmed by it. Take the example of Michelle Robinson. She was raised by two loving, caring parents who instilled strong work ethic in her. She attended a gifted program in elementary school and was admitted to Whitney Young High School, one of the most selective and academically demanding magnet schools in Chicago. That Michelle Robinson later became First Lady Michelle Obama. If she were a high school student today, several of the factors in SAT adversity scoring would count AGAINST her.
