Stop the Closure of Khalsa Diwan Kindergarten

Stop the Closure of Khalsa Diwan Kindergarten
The Issue
I am a proud product of an exceptional educational institution, Khalsa Diwan Kindergarten. This center, a pillar of the Sikh community since its inception, has not only provided the foundation of my education but also instilled in me the values and principles etched in the Sri Guru Granth Sahib. It is a place where minds are enlightened and nurtured, embodying the noble aim of propagating education -vidiaa- for all.
The kindergarten serves as a beacon of hope and unity in diversity, promoting Sikh values amongst a diverse cadre of ethnicities. Its role in shaping characters and building bridges is unparalleled. However, this precious institution faces the imminent threat of closure as a decision by the gurudwara management committee, one that stands in stark contrast to the wishes of the community it serves.
Schools are not just buildings; they are repositories of culture, communities of learning, and they shape our future generations. The closure of Khalsa Diwan Kindergarten may affect hundreds of children who rely on this institution for not just their schooling but also for their holistic development. It also serves the underprivileged, who might not be able to afford the ever-rising costs of kindergarten education. It is also vital to the preservation of Sikhism in Hong Kong, because when these diverse group of children will go out into this world, they shall be wearing the "Khanda" on their hearts, forever reminding them of the Sikh values.
This is a plea for rationale, for the preservation of a cherished institution, for the safeguarding of future generations' right to sound education and cultural understanding. It is time that our voices as a community are heard, and the decision to close the Khalsa Diwan Kindergarten be reconsidered. We urge you to support this cause and stand in solidarity with us.
