Derbyshire County Council (DCC) is proposing to close 11 out of 16 care homes, which means over 150 elderly and vulnerable residents will be forced to move away from their friends and family. The cost of care in the private sector is too expensive for her and many others

About a year ago, the rooms flooded as the roof leaked. We were told it was going to be repaired and claimed for on the insurance. The repair  has never been done. Where is the insurance money? 
Why  has it not been repaired?

There are many examples of people being told the care homes are not taking on any more residents, yet they have the capacity. Are the County Council deliberately running them into disrepair? This would be a despicable , callus act. 

The Leys is a brilliant, caring place with outstanding staff. As are many of the DCC owned care homes. They provide a vital safe haven for many people who simply can’t afford the cost of care in the private sector. They deserve better.

The distress caused by moving is too great for these residents.
