Stop the Closure of Birch River Elementary School

The Issue

I am a proud alum of Birch River Elementary (BRE), and today, my 5-year-old daughter walks the same halls I once traversed years ago. My family's roots run deep within BRE. Generations have passed through, learning and growing in a nurturing community that’s been perennially overlooked. Today, we cannot afford to be pushed aside - it's time for our collective voices to be heard.

Education is the foundry of human development, and BRE has been molding leaders from our community for decades. However, it is under threat - BRE is on the verge of shutting down. Closing such an institution will deprive our children, the future of our community, of an irreplaceable platform for growth and learning. Schools are not just buildings, they are the heart of communities, beating loudly with the dreams and hopes of our future generations.

We understand that budget cuts, which are often the reason for such closures, are necessary evils. However, we contend that education should be the last place to receive these cuts. Sacrificing the quality and accessibility of education for our children may result in long-term detriments that far outweigh short-term budgeting successes.

This is not a battle for one school or one community but a fight to prioritize education in public thinking. We call upon every parent, student, alumni, and concerned citizen to join us in this fight. Your signature can ensure that our children, like generations before, can continue to dream, explore, and grow within the comforting halls of Birch River Elementary. Sign this petition today and solidify the future of BRE for tomorrow.
