The Issue

Last year, our community in San Jose faced an increase in garbage and recycling fees, hitting our pockets hard. It's disheartening to see the city planning another increase so soon. As residents, we strive to manage our finances responsibly, but constant hikes in these essential services become a burden.

We understand that maintaining a city's infrastructure has its costs. Yet, instead of placing this burden on residents every time the budget seems tight, San Jose's officials should aim for fiscal responsibility and innovation. It's high time the city explored creative methods to optimize costs. Leveraging new technology, improving existing waste management processes, negotiating with vendors , and finding partnerships that reduce expenses can offer solutions without resorting to fee increases.

Moreover, in a city as prosperous as San Jose, it is imperative to maintain a balance where residents do not feel overtaxed. Excessive financial pressure can strain families already grappling with economic challenges and stifle the vibrant spirit of our community. We donot want residents leave city as unaffordable.

We, the residents, call upon the city council and Mayor of San Jose to reassess their strategy. By listening to the citizens, you were elected to serve and seeking alternative pathways, you can uphold fiscal responsibility without draining our finances.

Join us in urging the city to consider these strategies and halt the impending sewer and garbage recycling fee increase. Sign this petition to make our collective voice heard and to influence a fair and sustainable solution for our community.
