The Issue

A recent proposal to annex township property for the development of a senior living complex on Dean St just west of the Campton United Soccer Club building threatens to disrupt our peaceful way of life. Not only will this change impact the local residents, but it also raises significant concerns about traffic congestion, zoning compliance, environmental impact, and community welfare.

The intersections near our homes are already heavily traveled. With the proposed senior living complex, traffic is expected to increase even further, exacerbating traffic issues at Route 64 and Dean/Arbor Creek Rd and Peck and Dean streets and possibly impacting the Great Western Trail bike and running/walking users who cross Dean St. This will potentially compromise the safety and efficiency of our roads which were not initially built for this type of traffic flow. It is critical that we take steps to maintain manageable traffic levels to ensure the safety of all road users.

The environmental consequences of such a development cannot be overlooked. The area is home to wildlife and open space. The construction process and increased human activity could lead to habitat destruction, which would be detrimental to the local ecosystem. Additionally, the effects on local drainage systems could result in increased flooding and erosion, impacting not only the environment but also the homes and livelihoods of residents who farm nearby.

It's important that community members are given a voice in decisions that affect their neighborhoods.

I urge you to join me in opposing the annexation of township land for this project. Let us encourage our local officials to seek alternative sites or solutions that would preserve both the environment and the quality of life of local residents. We must come together to protect the integrity of our community. Please sign this petition to express your opposition and advocate for responsible urban planning that respects the voices and well-being of all stakeholders involved.
