Stop the cash grab! Protest the unfair marking schemes and unaturally low % in BU121 exams
Stop the cash grab! Protest the unfair marking schemes and unaturally low % in BU121 exams
The Issue
Given that there are at around 1000 students in BU121, it is statistically unlikely that the recently given midterm average for BU 121 was 54% and the highest mark was 85%. Although we acknowledge the fact that there will always be outliers who score on both ends of the mark spectrum; the fact that the average was close to a fail and the fact that no person out of 1000 people scored higher than an (A-) clearly highlights the overly harsh and unfair grading schemes, as well as the poor design of the midterm exam which demonstrates that all the professors and the university care about is failing students (or not letting them meet the high progression requirement of 70% in BU courses) so that they may be forced to pay more money to retake the course later or so that they are forced to switch to another Laurier program; keeping them at Laurier for a longer period of time.
