Petition to Reinstate Prom for the Brooklin High School Class of 2026
To: Principal Julie Mackenzie
Brooklin High School
We, the undersigned students, parents, and members of the Brooklin community, respectfully express our disappointment regarding the cancellation of the 2026 prom and future prom events.
Prom is not simply a school dance—it is a milestone that celebrates the accomplishments, friendships, and growth of students as they conclude their years at Brooklin High School. For many, it is one of the most memorable and meaningful traditions of the high school experience. Its absence would leave the graduating class without a significant rite of passage. It is an inclusive event that traditionally has come with positive outcomes
Additionally, the cancellation has an impact beyond our school walls. Local businesses—including florists, salons, boutiques, photographers, tailors, and event venues—depend on the business generated during prom season. By reinstating prom, Brooklin High School would not only be honoring its students but also supporting the local economy and strengthening school-community ties.
We believe that solutions can be found. Whether through fundraising, community partnerships, or volunteer efforts, we are ready and willing to work together to ensure that the Class of 2026 is given the opportunity to celebrate prom.
Therefore, we respectfully request that the administration reconsider its decision and reinstate prom for the graduating class of 2026.
Help us save our prom. Sign this petition to urge our school administration to reconsider their decision and allow us the opportunity to create lifelong memories. Let’s prevent the cancellation and make this a night to remember for everyone involved. Sign and share this petition today!
