The proposal to build a 131-house development off Delia and Dorothy Avenue in Hucknall is not just a disruption but a radical transformation of our peaceful neighbourhood. Living on the end plot next to the field, I am facing the grim reality that they plan to turn our beloved cul-de-sac into an access road for this massive development site.
The implications of such a transformation are deeply concerning. First, let's talk about safety. Our estate, currently a serene and safe haven, is at risk of being invaded by constant traffic. The quiet roads where our children play will no longer be safe. it’s noted that increased traffic is associated with higher accident rates within residential areas especially when there are two primary schools on the estate.
Further, this development poses a danger to the natural beauty and the character of our area. Our views of green fields, once a serene landscape, will be replaced by concrete structures, stripping away the peaceful environment we have cherished for so long. This Gedling approved urban sprawl significantly diminishes green spaces, affecting the ecological balance and quality of life. We have barn owls, red kites and protected wildlife living in this proposed development, yes these developers don’t seem to care!!
Moreover, property values might decline as the expanded infrastructure brings undesirable changes. The UK price index reveals that properties affected by high-density development experience slower growth in value compared to those preserved against such projects.
