Stop the Brutal Killing of Our Neighborhood Ducks

Stop the Brutal Killing of Our Neighborhood Ducks
The Issue
Our neighborhood is living in distress after witnessing the brutal and inhumane killing of over 100 of our cherished muscovy ducks.
A target was placed on their backs by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), who labeled them as an invasive species.
But these beautiful creatures are anything but invasive. They are friendly, peace-loving, trusting animals, that love people.
These ducks have been a charming part of our community, gracing our open parks and front yards, delighting children and adults alike with their presence.
In fact, according to a 2016 Studies in Avian Biology journal, Muscovy ducks' adaptable nature enables them to thrive in many environments and contribute positively to local ecosystems.
Yet, despite their gentle nature and their ecological role, they have been unjustly termed "invasive" and are being massacred in large numbers.
Ducks are a symbol of peace, love, tranquility and these are exactly the traits our beloved muscovies stand for.
We, the community, plead with the FWC and all relevant authorities to cease the unwarranted killing of these peaceful creatures.
Let us not tarnish our environment with such cruelty based on erroneous labels.
We demand immediate protection and humane treatment of the Muscovy ducks in our neighborhood.
Please sign this petition to stop the inhumane killing of our cherished ducks.
We saw the body bags put out on the canal the night before the killing so we knew it was going to happen, but we were helpless in stopping it because they were unfairly labeled as targets by the FWC.
They were shot by men with air rifles and dragged while gasping for air and left to finish the dying process on residents lawns and in the play area of a public park.
This is a common practice ordered by Homeowners Associations where the massacre is done in the early morning hours when they think people will not notice.
Residents wake up and find all their ducks gone and they innocently believe they flew away, but the film of duck guts floating on the water is evidence that they were shot and killed.
