STOP the BOTTLE SHOP

STOP the BOTTLE SHOP
The issue
A planning permit has been submitted for ANOTHER bottle shop in Swan Hill. At this time we have 8 bottle shops/take away liquor outlets and 4 pubs/clubs within a 1km distance. The proposed site not only has an existing bottle shop 100m away but is also next door to Swan Hill Fishing and Shooting.
Worryingly, research across numerous communities has shown a correlation between the saturation of alcohol shops and increased rates of alcohol-related harm, from public nuisance incidents to health and domestic issues (Source: "Alcohol Outlet Density and Alcohol-Related Harms: A comparison of geospatial measures", Miller, P. et.al., 2020)
It is crucial that we take decisive action against the opening of another bottle shop in our area.
We believe the well-being and quality of life of our community members is fundamental, and it outweighs the potential economic benefits that another bottle shop may bring. Let's ensure our community remains a safe and healthy environment for our children and ourselves.
Help us prioritize the welfare of our community. Please lend your support and sign this petition to prevent the opening of another bottle shop in our locale.
