Furious and outraged, Brumby Advocates are robustly calling on Penny Sharpe MP and NPWS to stop shooting the surviving 3,000 Brumbies in KNP, adopt the precautionary principle, and count those surviving numbers using an up to date method. The previous distance modelling has been found flawed and unreliable. The numbers quoted by Sharpe and NPWS are strenuously disputed.
This issue is a political issue driven by the Agenda of some Politicians and affiliated non government organisations. It must be about the lives of sentient creatures protected by Legislation, regardless of the personal and individual preferences or philosophical values of some Members of Parliament.
The call erupted after Sharpe announced aerial shooting is to continue in absence of any transparency over surviving numbers, paying no respect to the Legislation in force that protects the Heritage value of KNP Brumbies and how that value is to be protected.
We ask, is Sharpe led by her own personal philosophical values?
Is Sharpe led by Invasive Species Council?
Is Minister Sharpe complying with the Legislation in force to ensure 3,000 Heritage Brumbies live in retention zones?
Minister Sharpe owes a duty to Parliament, the Parliamentary system of New South Wales, the constituents who elected her, and those Brumbies protected by Legislation.
The shootings to date were found to be callous, cruel and barbaric with photos of horses with gut, back and shoulder shots, many likely taking days to die, mares in foal aborting involuntarily. Worse than Guy Fawkes, thousands of Brumbies enduring the same fate as those viewed in Guy Fawkes. This is unacceptable.
Sharpe authorised $8.2 million taxpayers money spent over 12 months to aerial and ground shoot Brumbies protected by Legislation, despite not knowing how many were living in the four retention zones, and is still not providing any transparency around numbers. This is unacceptable.

Sharpe has refused to make a declaration about how many can live in each of the zones. The four zones were chosen because of what was decided to be the importance of the Heritage bloodlines in each of the zones, and those zones have been literally plundered in brutal mass murders by National Parks and Wildlife Services.
