Lethal management and rehoming in KNP must stop now! After 12 months of lethal management, NO  action ought be taken until the Minister has completed a new population Count across retention zones, using a method other than the shamed distance modelling.

Brumby Advocates call upon the Minister for Environment Penny Sharpe MP to conduct an urgent population count of brumbies in all four retention zones and make a declaration about how many are to live in each zone to total 3,000.00

It is likely there are less than 3,000 across the four zones.

Any numbers beyond 3,000 must be carefully chosen from the zones, some may have only 50 brumbies, before any are removed to consider DNA and genetics.

Any brumbies outside the retention zone only to be removed for rehoming or to sanctuaries or refuge. 

The Heritage value of brumbies, protected by Legislation, must continue to be protected.
