Artificial intelligence is everywhere and is constantly being added to more applications. This would be a good thing if AI was nothing more than a useful tool but it also does a lot of harm to the world. It does have its benefits, as it is now, artificial intelligence is stealing people's intellectual property, harming the environment, spreading misinformation, threatening people's privacy and security, as well as perpetuating racism. 

Trump's new bill stopping states from creating laws to regulate artificial intelligence whilst also promoting its use in the government, which will not only be a massive threat to national security but also hinder the fight to fix the other probelems that come with AI. The bill states "no State or political subdivision thereof may enforce, during the 10-year period beginning on the date of the enactment of this Act, any law or regulation of that State or a political subdivision thereof limiting, restricting, or otherwise regulating artificial intelligence models, artificial intelligence systems, or automated decision systems entered into interstate commerce," all of which is being done to "remove legal impedments" to AI. The solutions to the problems with artificial intelligence lie in regulations and if this bill does not change, the fight against AI will be pushed back 10 years. 

Now is the time to act on this, while the bill is still going through referral and editing by the committee. If we fight now, we can stop it from happening and open the door to solving AI's other issues.
