Stop the Ban of ‘Puberty Blockers’ for Under 18’s in the UK - Trans Children are in danger

The Issue

Health Secretary Wes Streeting has informed the High Court that the ‘Emergency Ban’ to block puberty blockers, put forward by the previous Government, will be reviewed and attempted to be made into a permanent ban across NHS and Private Sectors.

Around 1,000 families of children will be affected by this needless decision. Likely outcomes are predictable: children becoming severely distressed and self-harm cases rises.

The Government are claiming the use of puberty blockers provides a health-risk to all children taking them, but the actual evidence shows that there is only a lack of research/evidence about their use.

At the very least, the permanent ban should not pass through and sufficient research into the health risks of puberty blockers should be carried out and published publicly before any decisions are made permanent. As well as children who have started treatment or are due to start, should be able to carry on.

The message the Government are sending is clear. ‘Trans-Gendered people are unwelcome in the UK, and we will root out the problem in children.’ This is not the case. Trans Children have, do and will always exist, as well as Trans Adults and they have never been the problem - Transphobia has.

Please sign this petition and show the UK just how welcomed and supported the Trans Community is in the UK.
