Stop the Ban of Gas Cars in California in 2035
The Issue
Gas cars have been a staple worldwide since the early 1900s. There have been thousands of different car models made, and billions of cars produced worldwide. Due to this, it has become rather cheap to produce certain cars, making it cheaper for people to buy. However, electric cars are becoming a new part of the market. They are presented to the public as being better for the environment as gas is not being emitted into the air. This is false, even if they might not being emitting gas directly, a lot of pollution is put into the air in order to produce the batteries for these electric cars. They have to extract lithium from hard rock mines which involves the burning of CO2 emitting fossil fuels.
This ban on cars not only affects the environment but also the people. Many people can’t afford to buy and maintain an electric car. A lot of gas cars are cheap, while electric cars often start at higher prices. If you manage to find one for cheap, it most likely will have a low range of travel. This means that the people who own these cars will have to spend large amounts of their time at charging stations, taking time away from their day.
Along with this, many people have a passion for cars. There’s even companies that build cars for enthusiasts. Many people grew up learning to work on cars with their parents, and it’s a tradition that those people can pass down to their kids as well. Getting rid of gas cars gets rid of this hobby, community, experience, or opportunity for many as electric cars are too complicated for an ordinary person.
We want to stop the ban on gas cars in California. We do not plan to get rid of electric cars, as they definitely have their benefits for some, but so do gas cars. Electric cars are not as eco-friendly as they are presented to be, but some people do prefer them. We want to see a market where companies can make both electric cars and gas cars, so there's something for everyone. We will post on Instagram and spread QR codes around gas stations to get the attention of fellow gas car drivers. We want to meet with our government and with the EPA, to get them to reconsider their decision, and see the downsides of electric cars, as well as the upsides of gas cars.
