Stop the Approval of the County K Quarry by Green Lake County Zoning Committee

The Issue

I am Green Lake and I am deeply concerned about the proposed approval of the County K quarry by our local Land Use, Planning & Zoning Committee. This is an issue for all of us who call this place home. The quarry is scheduled to remain open for several generations if approved - a legacy that we should not be comfortable leaving behind.

The proposed quarry threatens our groundwater in the Dakin Creek watershed leading to Big Green Lake. This is not just about preserving our natural beauty; it's about safeguarding our water resources. According to a study conducted by Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey (WGNHS), quarries can have significant impacts on groundwater levels and quality due to blasting and excavation activities.

Green Lake County's June 14th, 2024 zoning meeting will decide whether or not this project gets approved. We must make sure that our voices are heard before then. Our community deserves clean water and a healthy environment - not decades of potential contamination from a quarry operation.

Let's urge the Green Lake County Land Use, Planning & Zoning Committee to reject this proposal at their upcoming meeting on June 14th, 2024. Sign this petition today to protect our home now and for future generations!
